Lecu has announced a new album through London independent imprint Lo Recordings on the 14th of July 2023.

‘Leck’, the follow up to 2020’s ‘In Balance’ collection on Salmon Universe, is the latest in the label’s on going innovative ‘S-P-A-C-I-O-U-S-N-E-S-S’ series of special cassette releases which has previously delivered music by Laraaji, Iasos, JD Emmanuel, Ariel Kalma, Matthewdavid, Mary Lattimore and many other visionary artists.

Lecu, aka electronic producer Leo Cunningham, resides in Plymouth and records in his studio on the Devonshire coast. Recorded using modular and software synths, a Korg Minilogue, and a UDO Super 6 synthesizer, the new album features eight new tracks including the lead single ‘Birthdays At Midnight’ that sounds fresh and futuristic but has echoes of classic ambient masters like Harold Budd, John Hassell and Mort Garson and a nod to 90’s acts like Spacetime Continuum and Global Communications.

The cassette tape comes perfectly packaged by the award winning Non Format design team and features images by Janine Rook.

4 peaceful jazz vignettes. Belt of Venus is aquamarine, with a slow, tidal energy as dignified as the sea. The aptly named plantwood is budding, emergent as flowers on dewy moss in the forest. Stained Glass Sauna has a smoky, mountain resonance, while the Sunken Cabin emerges slowly from dust-mote stillness to tortured but deliberating peaks. The whole thing is bursting with character.
